Removing Unbelief

“I believe…help my unbelief!” Mark 9:24

If you and I were asked if we believe God I would guess many of us would answer “Yes” without any hesitation. But I would also guess that many of us would be answering with our head and not our heart. We KNOW we believe but do we live, act, and pray with believing hearts?
It might seem easier to speak a prayer request and leave it at that. We know God will do what He intends in any given situation. For instance, we know that He doesn’t want any to perish. Therefore, we believe that He can save even the hardest heart as we lift up our unsaved family and friends. We seem to stop short…we pray, but do we believe? I loved hearing a woman share about her loved one who was not saved YET! That’s belief! She anticipates that God will do what she has requested. Should we leave our requests at the foot of the Cross? Yes! Should we believe that they will be answered? Yes!
According to Beth Moore’s study “Breaking Free,” the Greek word for unbelief is aspitos meaning “not worthy of confidence, untrustworthy,,,a thing not to be believed, incredible.” Our unbelief may be deeper than just not believing in the answer to our prayers, but not believing the God to whom we pray. We may come to Christ but not believe Him to be trustworthy or credible.
Today if you find that you need to remove unbelief there is good news! Christ is more than willing to help us overcome our unbelief. Take a moment to talk to Him and ask Him to show you that He is worthy of your trust and confidence. You will believe with ALL of your heart when your heart knows Him!
Blessings,
