Praying the Names of Jesus

Posted on August 9, 2017 by Graeme Wilson in Victory Call

“Oh, how I love Jesus, oh, how I love Jesus, oh, how I love Jesus.”  Do you remember that song?  Today I invite you to review some of the names of our Lord Jesus.  Worship Him as you reflect upon His name.  You may want to look up the scripture listed to help you fully meditate upon His name.  I believe by the end you will be singing that simple but powerful song of worship.
Jesus is Immanuel. Praise the Lord our God Immanuel, for He is with us.  Is. 7:14
Jesus is the Lamb of God, our Redeemer.  Praise Jesus, the Lamb of God who has taken away the sins of the world and redeemed us by the blood of the Lamb.  Is. 59:20, John 1:29, Rev. 5:9
Jesus is the Light of the World. Praise Jesus who is the Light of the World. John 8:12
Jesus is our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Blessed be His name. Is. 9:6
Jesus is a Man of Sorrows.   Praise Him who knows what it means to live in this world and be despised, rejected and acquainted with grief.  (Is. 53:3)
Jesus is our Good Shepherd.  Praise the Good Shepherd, who knows you and gave His life for you.  John 10:11
Jesus is the Word of God.  Praise Him who was and is the Word of God.  Rev. 19:13

Oh How I Love Jesus

By Frederick Whitfield

There is a Name I love to hear, I love to sing its worth;
It sounds like music in my ear, The sweetest Name on earth.

  • Refrain:
    Oh, how I love Jesus, Oh, how I love Jesus,
    Oh, how I love Jesus, Because He first loved me!

It tells me of a Savior’s love, Who died to set me free;
It tells me of His precious blood, The sinner’s perfect plea.

It tells me of a Father’s smile Beaming upon His child;
It cheers me through this little while, Through desert, waste, and wild.

It tells me what my Father hath In store for every day,
And though I tread a darksome path, Yields sunshine all the way.

It tells of One whose loving heart Can feel my deepest woe;
Who in each sorrow bears a part That none can bear below.

It bids my trembling heart rejoice; It dries each rising tear;
It tells me, in a “still small voice,” To trust and never fear.

Jesus, the Name I love so well, The Name I love to hear:
No saint on earth its worth can tell, No heart conceive how dear.

This Name shall shed its fragrance still Along this thorny road,
Shall sweetly smooth the rugged hill That leads me up to God.

And there with all the blood-bought throng, From sin and sorrow free,
I’ll sing the new eternal song Of Jesus’ love for me.

Blessings,
Pat
