My “Campaign” of Self-Talk

Posted on October 17, 2018 by America's Keswick in Victory Call

I have always talked a lot and generally enjoy talking. However, one thing I have always struggled with is my self-talk. We can do so much damage to ourselves when we allow negative and derogatory words to consume our thoughts. Overtime we begin to believe those words as truth. However, God’s words are always true, loving, and never damaging.

This time of year, as you know, is election time. I find the campaign commercials on TV interesting as they often slander each other. It is very hard to watch TV without seeing all the attempts to get your vote for either candidate. I think you would agree with me that a lot of time and money goes into campaigning.

Recently, I was having a particularly hard day with my self-talk and I actually found myself listening. Generally I know my triggers and have learned to fight back, in one way, by going immediately to scripture. However, this day was a tough day. As I was watching the TV, I decided to simply campaign for myself. So, I did.

I took post-it notes, wrote scripture on them and “posted” them on my bathroom mirror, my dressing mirror, my steering wheel, over my kitchen sink, on the front door and on my desk. Everywhere I looked, I found a reminder to vote for myself…..to remind myself, I’ve already won. I personalized Romans 8:31……

What, then, Teri, shall you say in response to this? If God is for you, who can be against you?

Here are a few of my other campaign promises….as you will see, I love to personalize scripture and I know these promises have been proven to be absolute truth from God’s word.

The Lord appeared to me in the past, saying: Teri, I have loved you with an everlasting love;

I have drawn you with loving-kindness. ~Jeremiah 31:3~

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,

I know that full well. ~Psalm 139:14~

“But blessed is Teri who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

~Jeremiah 17:7~

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

~Psalm 62:1-2~

So, today, my girlfriends, I am voting for me! A child of God who is loved by God. Are you ready to begin your campaign….to vote for yourself? Don’t let your perspective get in the way of God’s promises!! Go to the truth…..God’s Word and win!

Going & Growing in Grace,

Teri
