Lord, Are You Silent?

Posted on September 19, 2017 by Graeme Wilson in Victory Call

There are definitely seasons in our journey when God seems silent.  Perhaps He is waiting to give you the answer.  Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you,  and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him. Isaiah 30:18

Our timing (we want it now!) is not God’s timing (He wants to give it to us at the right time for our good and His glory).  For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
I have been thinking about this recently.  There are times my prayers seem to go unanswered. I suspect you have experienced the same thing.
But it got me thinking, sometimes God is silent, sometimes God is not silent but we are just not listening.
Do we hear from God but refuse what He is saying?
Maybe He is giving us an answer we don’t want to hear.
OR
Maybe His answer comes in an unconventional way that is outside our God box. (As if He could possibly be put in a box.)
OR
Maybe God is giving us a command we don’t want to obey.
OR
Maybe we are not expecting an answer so we are not paying attention.
OR
Maybe we are too busy with all of life’s distractions that we don’t hear His still small voice in the midst of the noise.
When God seems silent in life, rather than assuming He is not speaking; perhaps we should first consider we are not actually listening.
Blessings,
Diane
