He Listens

“O LORD, hear me as I pray,

Pay attention to my groaning.

Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God,

For I pray to no one but you”

Psalm 5:1-2 NLT

Have you ever felt like nobody was listening? Like nobody even cared about what you had to say? Like God was very far away as your emotions ran high?  God, why are you not listening? Why are you not answering my prayers God as I scream from my very core?

I have certainly been there and I know you have been there too. But God!  God is so rich in mercy and He is an “ever-present help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). We, as daughters of the King, must cling to His Word which promises first, He hears us. Every breath you take, He can hear. Every word you speak, He can hear. God’s Word says, “You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord” Psalm 139:5. Second, He pays attention. God is so interested in what we say, what we do, what we ask of Him. He takes such delight in us. He knows every hair on your head (Luke 12:7).  The Lord knows what you long for, He hears every sigh (Psalm 38:9). Nothing gets past our Heavenly Father. And Lastly, He listens to your cry. He is a God of compassion. We have His full attention, He is listening. Jesus promised, “And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

As daughters, we need to hold fast to the Words and Promises our Lord has spoken in the scriptures. God is willing, but are you? Are you willing to listen to Him? God says “draw close to me, and I will draw close to you” (James 4:8). Moments we “feel” God is not close to us nor paying attention to us, the question needs to go reverse. Are we listening? I encourage you to pour yourself into the very ink on the papers that are not just words written, but these Words are Promises and give sustenance to your being. “The Word was with God and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Listen today as God listens to you.
