God’s Faithfulness

“God is not a man, that he should lie; nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19, 20)

Often God’s faithfulness is missed in our daily lives and circumstances because our focus is in the wrong place. We get caught up in the busyness of a career, a new home, personal situations, or health needs, and perhaps things aren’t going our way, and we want our way! We tend to want acceptance, approval, recognition, affirmation, success, prosperity. If things aren’t going our way, it is easy to neglect recognizing God’s provision and faithfulness will supply of all of our needs. Many things we just take for granted, or want to think are due to our own accomplishments.

Even those who don’t recognize God as the Creator and Sustainer of the universe still benefit from His faithfulness daily. The sun shines, the rain comes, food is provided, seasonal beauty is enjoyed, and even life itself is His gift.

Matthew 5:45 says, “He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

Whether or not we recognize God’s faithfulness doesn’t change the fact that He is ever-faithful. Faithfulness is an attribute of God and He never changes.  Though our circumstances seem out of control, and things aren’t going our way, He still is faithful. (2 Timothy 2:13)

God often uses circumstances to get our focus onto Himself and His plan for our lives. Isaiah 55:8, 9 states, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD, my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” By recognizing that because of His faithfulness He is working through disappointing situations, and circumstances that weren’t in our plans, we come to accept that His “higher ways” are for our good and ultimately His glory in our lives. Praise Him!!

He is the loving Heavenly Father to all who have trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior. We can depend on His faithfulness today, in our immediate future, and our eternal future.

“And the LORD, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8

Think About This: “Knowing that God is faithful, it really helps me to not be captivated by worry. But knowing that He will do what He has said, He will cause it to happen, whatever He has promised, and then it causes me to be less involved in worrying about a situation.”– Josh McDowell

This Week’s Verse to Memorize:

The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish. Proverbs 10:28
