More than any other sin, our God abhors the sin of pride. It’s the one He speaks most vehemently against.
Psalm 101:5… I cannot tolerate anyone with haughty eyes or an arrogant heart.
Psalm 138:6…Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance          from the proud.
Proverbs 16:8…Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD…
James 4:6…Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
 There are many more Scriptures to describe the Lord’s disgust with pride. Suffice to say, He detests it.
We have all been around “that” person who just can’t seem to talk about anything else but themselves – their stuff, their job, their worth, themselves…you get the picture. And we all know the icky feeling we get about that person as we sit and smile while they wax on. We can’t wait to move away from them, can we?
Somehow, as I read the Scriptures, I don’t see God smiling, glaze-eyed, and nodding when He hears me do and say such things. I know He’s not amused when He sees the wicked pride of my heart that others cannot see. To think that He would distance Himself from me, that He can’t wait to get away from me because of my foolish pride, puts fear in my heart. That’s actually a good thing. I need to be shook humble sometimes.
My prayer is that I am more and more aware of how I sound, what I say, who I am speaking about when  in the company of others, because I am ALWAYS  in the company of my Lord. I pray my heart is more humble, compassionate, gracious, kind, long-suffering, patient…the list goes on. I pray I really can make Him smile as I press on toward the goal of being transformed into the likeness of my King. I’d be honored if you would pray that with me.
