Discontinued

I know you will relate. I have found a great lipstick. It’s a new brand for me, and I love it! I wish I had heard of it a long time ago. Now that I have a new favorite….I lost it. I searched purse pockets, coat pockets, under the seats of the car. No lipstick. I planned to purchase it again but received an email that if I ordered online, the lipstick would be half price! Yeah! As it turned out, I was near the store the following day, so I decided to grab it while I was there. You know what I am going to say. ALL of the lipsticks were gone, and they are now a new formula! I quickly went online and placed my order to hopefully still get my new favorite while it was still available. I know that the reason this lipstick is 50% off is that the company will be discontinuing it. Doesn’t it always happen that way when you find something you like?

In John 4: 7-16 Jesus gives what will never be discontinued:

A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” (For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock.” Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.[b] The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.”

I am so glad that there are things that are never discontinued. God’s Word is always right there to be opened, meditated on and hidden in our hearts. I can pray always. My access to the Lord through prayer is never denied. Unless I grieve him, the Holy Spirit is always available to me. God never finds something better to offer us. He has offered us the best from the beginning. He never takes something away and then tries to offer something else.

You and I can always count on the Lord to continue to give what He has promised.

Blessings,

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings. ~Jeremiah 17:9-10
