Create a Beautiful Garden

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” Psalm 51:10

I recently walked my yard to begin thinking about the Spring work that needs to start in the weeks ahead. There is a lot to do! It can be overwhelming to prepare and plant so that a harvest of blooms will result. So it is with my heart. Jennifer Kennedy Dean posted this on Facebook,

“Let God do whatever work is necessary to make your heart fertile ground for His Word. Let Him transform the soil of your life so that it is the right environment for the seed to flower.”

It is a lot of work to prepare the time and place to read God’s Word and let His words sink deep into the soil of our hearts. We can get out our tools, bible and devotionals, but they mean nothing if we aren’t opening them and digging into what is said. If we refuse to look deep into the motives of our hearts and we’re unwilling to pull out the weeds, our garden will never grow.

I found a big weed this week. Something that I trip on over and over again. It needs to be pulled out with the roots intact, the soil needs to be turned over and broken from the hardness that has accumulated. Hard work indeed!

Like our gardens, our hearts need some spring cleaning and preparation in order to bloom.

Let’s get our hands dirty!

Blessings,

Kathy

Daily Quote: “Beware of letting small faults pass unnoticed under the idea it is a little one. There are no little things in training children; all are important. Little weeds need plucking up as much as any. Leaven them alone and they will soon be great.” – J. C. Ryle

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”  – Revelation 21:5
