Courage and Light

Jesus Resting on a Manger
As I consider the holiday season upon us two words come to mind; courage and light .  As I reflect upon the reason for the season and consider the stories of Hanukkah and Christmas, it becomes clear that both seasons required an enormous amount of courage on the part of God’s people to release the light of blessing.
During Hanukkah we remember Judah Maccabee and those who joined the fight with him.  They trusted in their God who led them to an amazing victory after three long years and many battles.  Their courage was rewarded and today we celebrate that reward during Hanukkah.  It was the light, the miracle of the light that shone in the repaired, cleaned temple for eight whole days and nights without the oil needed.
At Christmas we remember the birth of one courageous solitary life that would change the world, Jesus.  We celebrate one young girl who courageously answered the call to give birth to Him.  We celebrate her courageous husband who lovingly cared for her and her child.  On the night He was born shepherds in a field in Bethlehem saw a radiant light that lit up the field with the blazing glory of God.  (That night, in a field near Bethlehem, there were shepherds watching over their flocks. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared in radiant splendor before them, lighting up the field with the blazing glory of God, and the shepherds were terrified! Luke 2:8-9 TPT)
My prayer for you is that as you engage in the celebrations of Hanukkah, and Christmas, you will be touched by the courage of God’s people and the gift of His light.
May you know and receive God’s plan for you in this coming year.  He has placed you where you are for such a time as this.  May you be blessed with great courage, trusting in Him as you go forward under His direction. With all my heart I believe as you go forward with courage under the guidance of our amazing God, you will be blessed with the peace and joy of His heavenly light.
(Don’t be obsessed with money but live content with what you have, for you always have God’s presence. For hasn’t he promised you, “I will never leave you alone, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!”  Hebrews 13:5 TPT)
Blessings,
Patricia
