Can I Pray for You?

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. Luke 18:1
Pray without ceasing.  1 Thessalonians 5:17
The Summer Conference weeks here at Keswick are coming to a close. Much has been taught about prayer and I was privileged to pray with many people while they were here.
I am reminded of how often we tell one another our requests and we say, with all honesty, that we will pray for them. But, like me, I am sure you have experienced times when you see that person later on and know you forgot to pray. I am embarrassed when someone thanks me for praying and I know that I forgot. I’ve been in this position more than once and I try very hard to stop and take a moment to pray with someone when they ask or at least, to pray right away on my own.  This way I know I prayed.
My latest challenge is praying for something specific that I agreed to pray for on a specific date. I no longer can count on my memory. I must write it down. Many people use prayer journals for these types of timely reminders.  I choose to use my datebook. I’ve used post-it notes on my bathroom mirror at times….whatever works!
When you and I have the opportunity to pray let’s take it. If it is something that can wait let’s faithfully follow through. Let’s pray for others the way we would want our requests to be prayed over.
Blessings,
Kathy
