A Simple Truth Take 2

Posted on October 16, 2019 by America's Keswick in Victory Call

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. Galatians 5:6

In yesterday’s Victory Call, in view of Galatians 5:6, we considered that nothing other than Christ counts for our salvation. No matter what words we put in place of circumcision and uncircumcision, the works they represent count for nothing.

That being said, there are a few very important words in Galatians 5:6 that CANNOT be changed without changing the meaning.

IN CHRIST – though circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything – being in Christ counts for everything. This is not knowing about Christ, nor even believing in Christ – because many people believe without actually trusting in Him ALONE for salvation.  The Scripture clearly states in Christ. We are in Christ when the Holy Spirit of God, regenerates our dead spirits (which we are all born with) giving us new life and hiding our life in Jesus. (John 3:6-8; Colossians 3:3). Therefore, when we are in Christ our works do not count one iota towards our salvation. Only Christ.  When a person is not in Christ, they cannot keep the law perfectly. Truly on the only way of salvation is Christ. Only Christ.

FAITH – not just believing in Jesus but fully trusting that His work on the Cross is not just necessary but sufficient for our salvation. Faith is also taking Him at His word.  “True faith is a living and active thing and produces love.”[i]

LOVE – The two great commandments are in short, Love God, love others.  We are called to love the brethren (1 John 4:21); but we are also called to love our enemies (Matthew 5:43). The overflow of being in Christ, the fruit of our relationship with Him, is love, His love working in and through us. Love, love, love. A quick read through Scripture and you will see the Bible is about love. God’s love for us. Our love for God and our love for others.  We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

In Christ, by faith, we love.

Blessings,

Diane
