We’re Not Done Yet

Philippians 3:12-14 12Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

It is just amazing to me how many people will identify themselves by their past. The good, the bad, and the ugly all come out as if they will never be able to shake off the past. We worry that others will not look at the new person we have become in Christ, but just see us as we were. I took it to heart not long ago while out with my family, my sister brought up something from my past that I would never think of doing now. 2 Cor. 5:17 “the old is gone, the new has come”. Every day I try, “I TRY’ to get closer to being Christ-like. I slip, I fall, I make mistakes. But I keep going, never letting my past or things that I have just done minutes ago from stopping me in my journey to follow Christ. Billy Graham in an interview was asked if there was anything in his life that he would do over, what would it be. He responded, “I would study the bible more”. My journey is far from over on this earth and I pray that each day I can take another step closer to my Lord and Savior. Don’t worry about your past, think of the glory that is to come with a greater understanding of what God has planned for you.
