After watching War Room, I was reminded of how our spiritual battles are parallel to military combat. Many individuals are planning and investing their lives in the name of freedom. This battle is not won by accident; to win a war it takes more than a casual approach to the battle. It takes strategy to triumph these battles.

We are in a battle and our enemy is out to destroy our families, our faith, and our walks with the Lord. The elderly women’s war room was a fascinating example of what a prayer closet should be like. It was her foundational battle plan to engage in the real fight. Matthew states, “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.” (Matthew 6:5) She valued the art of prayer and mentioned to her mentee that if she wanted different, she would have to approach the circumstance differently.

Personally, this is where my focus is as we end of 2015 and the begin 2016. Not a New Year’s resolution, but a conscious, bold approach to life with a fresh perceptive. We need more Jesus; not more church, not more Bible studies, or doing more. Simply more of Christlikeness, more love, and less selfishness. This war begins in prayer. Do you have a War Room?
