This Little Light of Mine

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14 NLT)

Paul writes to believers, For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV). The point is, that God who created the material light (Genesis 1:3 NIV), and who is the Father of lights (James 1:17), and sent His Son to be the light of the world (John 8:12), did not place His light in our hearts for ourselves to benefit alone, nor did He intend we hide the light “under a bushel.” God’s desire is that we transmit His light. For this reason, there is an implied comparison here between the creation of light and the dawn of the gospel light; light, in all its forms, is meant for the good of the entire world.

All the glory of God is concentrated in and shining from the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:5-7 ESV); as we spend time in His Word, which is the manifestation of ALL that He is, we will begin to radiate His light to those around us, just as Moses did before the Israelites.

You want to impact your corner of the world? Then you must spend time in God’s Word, meditating on it, and responding in prayer and obedience. It is this particular kind of response that will turn up the glow of His presence in your life and shine it forth into those God has placed around you.  Sure, some people will try to veil the light, but that’s only because it’s having an impact and they are afraid of what it will reveal about them.

Let The Light shine in your heart today as you look to Jesus; I guarantee it will change your life and warm your heart.

This little light of mine,

I’m gonna let it shine…

Let it shine till Jesus comes,

I’m gonna let it shine…

Think About This: “If you believe in a God who controls the big things, you have to believe in a God who controls the little things. It is we, of course, to whom things look “little” or “big.” ― Elisabeth Elliot

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: 14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. -2 Corinthians 5:14-15
