“Your statutes are the theme of my song during my earthly life”
Psalm 119:54 CSB
I think everyone has a “Theme”, an exhibition of life determined by own understanding. We portray a way that defines us or characterizes us. “That guy is always working” is an example of a theme. Hardworking, lazy, cheap, kind, mean, or angry are also themes we demonstrate.
The transforming power of the Gospel should influence the “Theme” of our lives. When our understanding of who we are in Christ unfolds, our actions should develop and characterize the life of Jesus. It’s when we redefine our role in life as believers that we participate in the sanctification process.
When we understand that in God’s economy, all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose, we become resourceful and set a “Theme” for our lives. Characteristics that shape us when we live by verses like Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things”.
Meditation and prayer are the key to developing a new theme for our life. Our transformation into the image of Christ is being manifested as the inner man grows spiritually. The ability to recognize circumstances in life as opportunities as opposed to hindrances. So, ask God to develop a new character that becomes the “Theme” of the Gospel. Amen!
