“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” – Ephesians 3:20
There are some verses that I love to quote for situations that require reinforcement of a truth found in God’s Word. It is usually in a difficult situation I’ll refer to “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” to provide comfort and hope.
It’s also a verse that’s easier to preach to others then to believe for myself. Very rarely to I consider a “power that works in us” to satisfy my longing or troubled soul. I wonder if that’s why the verse says, “is able”? God’s ability to work in our lives is dependent upon our faith and hope. I don’t subscribe to the power of positive thinking, but I do believe when my circumstances are governed by the power working in me and that power is faith in God it’s a win, win. We may not always get our desired outcome but with God you can’t lose, you either win or learn. Our ability to overcome is to not be overcome anxiety and fear.
It is sometimes easier to look back and testify to what God has done in the past and say, “He has done exceedingly abundantly above what I asked or thought”. In order to acknowledge the “power that works in us”, it may need to practice Biblical principles. I often refer to Philippians 4:4-8. This practice includes a remedy to overcome anxiety through rejoicing, prayer and meditating on good, moral and truthful things.
Our walk started with a saving faith given to us by God and requires us to nurture a sustaining faith with the “power that works in us”. A faith that is established through a hope of God doing “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think”. Amen!
