Reconciling the Runner

“He hideth my life in the depths of His love, And covers me there with His hand”

Why is it that when life gets hard we run from God instead of into His care? God, “in Christ, was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19). Isn’t it an awesome truth that God does not count our trespasses against us because of Christ’s work of salvation, thereby reconciling us to Himself; that is making the way to be declared justified before a Holy God, forgiven of our choice to treasure anything else above God, and able to find rest in His care? To receive this truth as your own, you only need to trust Him (Psalm 118:5-6). “Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else… won’t He care for your need of the hour?” (Romans 8:32) So why run from Him? Why not humble yourself under His mighty hand? Why not cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you? (1 Peter 5:6-7) Why not come to Him All whose hearts are heavy and burdened and find rest in His care? (Matt 11:28) Is it not because you are full of pride? It is not because you willfully choose to reject His offer of salvation; believing you know better than God? Then to be brutally honest, don’t blame God when you find yourself in Hell. He stood by you all the way to deaths gate with His arms stretched out to save you.

There is no safer place to be then in the care of the One who loves you more than life itself; for greater love has no one than He lay down His life for His friend (John 15:13) You are His friend that He died for, reconciling you to our Heavenly Father; won’t you run to Him today?

Choose wisely….

“And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

  (2 Corinthians 5:18-19, 21)

Praying you choose Christ today

Think About This:  Where do you run for help? When you are in trouble, what is your first instinct? Do you run to others or to God? Is it usually the counsel of another rather than the counsel found in waiting upon God in prayer? Why is this the way it is? Why do we run to man before we run to God? – Kay Arthur

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. – Psalm 139:7-8
