REALLY????

I have been blessed beyond belief to serve at Americas Keswick for going on 6 years now. It is the only job I have ever had in my life that I actually love coming back to work after having time off. I love and respect all the other staff here, and being able to minister to the men of the Colony of Mercy has shown me many things about myself that God has worked on me. as well as helping the men that work with me in Raws Kitchen. But every so often, there’s one man that comes along that just wants to push my buttons and make me want lose my mind and explode on them. I thank the Lord above for teaching me patience. They are the type of person that questions everything you ask them to do as if it was the most horrible act ever created by man. Simple tasks become a long drawn out process filled with complaining, whining, and milking the proverbial clock! I’m not perfect and I have been known to be hard and sometimes harsh with the men. But life lessons are part of what needs to be done in our lives.  We can’t go around complaining about the jobs that we are given to do. We should shout from the rooftops of how great it is to have a job in the world we live in today.

Romans 13: 1-5 1Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.

Trust me, we all have our days. But understanding that God wants us to be “Cheerful givers” in all we do, including our jobs. Don’t look upon your work as a burden, count it as a joy and true gift from God.

Think About This: “We desperately need to explore how much of our understanding of the gospel is American and how much is biblical.” – David Platt

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. -1 John 2:15-17
