Let’s start from the beginning….

Hebrews 5:11-14

My wife Shirley and I are blessed beyond belief to have a tiny cabin on Schroon Lake in the beautiful Adirondack mountains. It is a place of peaceful rest and a place where I have written many freedom fighters blogs. But it’s not all about morning or evening campfires, and gorgeous walking trails. It’s a home, that needs maintenance, and putting things off requires more work taking care of them, so I decided to take 2 full days to work on some projects that needed some attention. After 2 full days of painting, trimming, replacing rotted trim, 2 trips to the quarry to dump what seemed to be TONS of broken concrete, power washing, redoing the fire pit, and a host of other things, my 62-year-old body screamed, “stop I need a break!!” So, I made myself a sandwich and sat out on one of the docks overlooking Word of Life Bible Institute. I wondered how they were doing during this COVID season we are in. and then I wondered how all those teachers there stay inspired, stay focused, stay hungry for the Lord. There have been times where I have lost my focus on God and needed to start from the beginning. Get into daily reading and studying of the word. And that day I received an e-mail from Bill Welte with a schedule for speaking at the colony chapel. It’s an honor that I do not take for granted that Bill has entrusted me to speak God’s word to others. So how do you restart your walk? The writer of Hebrews puts it this way.

“We have much to say about this, but its sis hard to explain because you are slow to learn. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of Gods word all over again. You need Milk, not solid food. Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” Hebrews 5:11-14

Believe me, I am the first one to tell people that I am no biblical scholar, but I’m still amazed that there is no end to learning what the bible tells us. It is a daily source of comfort for me to read His word first thing in the morning. And even more of a blessing to teach it to those that may still be on milk. It gives me no greater joy than to watch a man graduate from the colony and move to solid food and continue to grow. New beginnings start today!!
