Is Your Life Filled with Busyness & Hurry?

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 CSB

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 Amplified Bible

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Matthew 11:28-28 The Message

Interesting title and verses for this new week of Freedom Fighter blogs. I just keep getting hammered by the Lord – but that’s ok. If he is hammering me, I can share it with you! LOL!

Seriously, I have grappled with this whole issue. I hear three things from my millennial and generation x friends and co-workers:

I’m so tired.
I’m so busy.
I’m so overwhelmed.

I don’t want to offend my millennial and generation x friends – I am hearing these three things from almost everybody these days. And if I am honest with you, and I promised you from the first FF blog, that I would be – I am right there with them.

I think that Covid-19 certainly has played into this in our thinking. Many people went from working like crazy to working from home in our pj’s and … well I won’t go there. Some didn’t work at all – they were able to get financial assistance because their employers had to let them go. Or maybe because of remote working, there just wasn’t the same kind of pressure and stress.

Now that we are back working full steam, life can seem:

Overwhelming! Out-of-Control! Overloaded!

I am hearing of more people experiencing brain fog, the ability to focus and concentrate, confusion, ramped up anxiety, and other symptoms related to the effects of Covid-19. A common comment is “I am exhausted at the end of the day, and when I get home and sit, I’m out like a light!”

Can I be honest? I am right there with you. It can be very discouraging and to some frightening.

It is amazing how God shows up to address these issues. Several of us are going through a series by John Mark Comer, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. If you haven’t read the book, I highly recommend it to you.
