Honey, Water, and Light

How sweet are Your words to my taste,
Sweeter than honey to my mouth!

Psalm 119:103

Recently I was listening to some worship music and the song “Holy and Anointed One” came on. There are times when listening to worship or Christian music is purely for entertainment, but this time was different. I began to desire to be in a spiritual place where these lyrics described my emotional being.

Your name is like honey on my lips,
Your spirit like water to my soul
Your word is a lamp unto my feet,
Jesus I love You, I love You
.

These three attributes of God, so simple yet seem to circumvent from my life at times. Three precepts that can bring us into the right spirit and allow us to experience the peace of God. The song starts off with a choir of “Jesus” over and over. The name of Jesus is sweeter then Honey. It is an invitation to experience the power of His Name.

…” that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ”. 2nd Thessalonians 1:12

“Your spirit like water to my soul”.  There was an invitation given to the woman at the well, “but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” John 4:14.

The thirst that comes with the struggles and fears of this world can only be quench by the Holy Spirit, the reminder of everlasting life that transcends past the pain and suffering we can experience. “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again”.

And finally, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet”  The Light that guides us, His Word, “Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path
”. To be in God’s word is to navigate through the twists and turns that lie ahead. To spend time in God’s word and be able to see with spiritual eyes. The ability to discern the circumstances that lie ahead and minister to the needs of others instead of criticizing or judging without understanding. These three attribute of God are needed for us to be in a place of where we are experiencing God.

I pray today you will experience some “Honey, Water and Light”. Amen

Think About This: “The faith of Christ offers no buttons to push for quick service. The new order must wait the Lord’s own time, and that is too much for the man in a hurry. He just gives up and becomes interested in something else.” – A.W. Tozer

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. –Ephesians 5:1-2
