God is for You!

This I know, that God is for me. Psalm 56:9

Did you ever feel alone? Discouraged to the point of despair? Feel overwhelmed with your circumstances? Feel like no matter where you turn, you are ticking people off or that they are against you?

Some of you are at the point in your life where you could relate to the kid’s book and a kid named Alexander who said, “it’s been a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day.”

Welcome to this new week of Freedom Fighters. I am so glad you have partnered with us each day. Our desire is that together, we will be relentlessly pursuing Christ in our lives.

Many of the Psalms that David penned were written when he was either being relentlessly pursued by his enemies, or struggling with his circumstances. In fact, this Psalm was written when he was being squeezed by King Saul on one side and the Philistines on the other.

In the midst of this “terrible, horrible, no good very bad day,” he writes that God is for him. He uses the word “KNOW,” which is cool.

Devotional author, Roy Lessin wrote:

“Knowing” does not mean “I hope so,” “I think so” or “I pray so.” It means far more than knowing something in your head as you would know various facts or trivia.

It means to be absolutely, positively, convinced about something with all your mind, all your heart, and all your soul. It means to be so certain of something that you are willing to cast all your care, all your worries, all your fears, and your very life upon it.

Several weeks ago, we were going through a tough season at America’s Keswick with equipment breaking down at critical times, major issues with fiber optic needs at the Colony which took out the phones and internet, low numbers for our two on-campus banquets and so much more.

Quite honestly, I was overwhelmed with the circumstances. It was during this season that I read Psalm 56:9. It was one of those God-moments when His Word spoke to my heart at just the right time, and it spoke peace to my heart in the midst of the craziness.

So if you are there today – allow this truth to burn its way into your heart and mind. Write it on a post-it-note. Post it on your dashboard or bathroom mirror: “This I KNOW, that God is for me!” Psalm 56:9

Relentlessly pursuing Christ,

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of Your tender mercies, blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. – Psalm 51:1-2
