God Breathed

“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”  (Genesis 2:7)

I can still remember playing sports and getting hit so hard it would take the breath out of me. Breathe, the life sustaining, unvoluntary act that is something we all take for granted, until it’s gone.

The Bible teaches that creation consisted of God creating everything out of nothing. He needed to make the dust of the earth in order to make every living, breathing thing. But only man had an extra ingredient that no other living thing had, the “Breathe of God”.

This breathe of God is what I believe to be the very Spirit of God, the one thing that directly connects us to Him. The consequence of the fall of man in the Garden was death, the breathe of God taken away. Therefore we were all born spiritually dead, the remnants of sin that cannot coexist with the Spirit of God.

This Breathe of God is what I believe is given to us when we become Born again. In one sense being Born again puts us in a sanctification process to get back to Eden. Back to the place where we have fellowship with God and live in His presence. Until then, we have a deposit from the Holy Spirit that lives in us delivering our souls from death to life.

(refer to Romans 6 for truths like, “Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”)

“God Breathed” is a vital part of our Christian walk, everything that is not breathed by God is not inspired by God. In Paul’s final letter that he wrote to a young Timothy, by the inspiration of God gives us the credibility of the scriptures.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16,17)

Given by inspiration of God” or some translations use, “God Breathed”. It is the Breath of God restored to us that the “God Breathed” Word of God transforms us each day. You may enjoy reading Christian literature, and get some insight from Theologians or even read Freedom Fighters. But the only inspired, “God Breathed” Word is from the Bible. Please don’t rely on my writing, they are only an encouragement to go to the Scriptures.

So, the next time you feel overwhelmed, take a deep breathe, remember that if you’re a Child of God, His breathe has made you Spiritually alive in Christ. Amen!
