God Blesses Us to be a Blessing to Others

“God blesses us to be a blessing to others, to advance His kingdom, to reveal His love through the gift of salvation in Christ” – Hodges

Paul poses this question to the Corinthian church who has allowed their pride to lead them, “For what gives you the right to make such a judgment? What do you have that God hasn’t given you? And if everything you have is from God, why boast as though it were not a gift?” 1 Corinthians 4:7) Everything we have down to the very next breath we take and the ability to inhale and think our next thought is a gift from God. You did not pre-exist yourself to create yourself, therefore nothing you have is yours, you are but the administrator of the gifts you have received. How are you doing with that job? When the One who gave you this job calls you to take account of your performance, what will be your grade? In the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30), the only person who gets punished is the guy who was more concerned about his own welfare and hid the talent away so as to protect his own butt. The other two reinvested what God gave them and multiplied their gifts. For this, their master blesses them with more, having approved of their administering of His gifts. The self-centered man had everything of the Masters taken away and was left with what he had chosen to love the most…. himself.

What are you doing with the gift of life and all its blessings that God has granted you? Are you reinvesting it in the lives of others? Are you using it to bring praise to the One who is the source of all things? Or are you hiding it away trying to cover your own butt? If God did not hold back even His own Son so that you might be saved what else of lesser value would He not be willing to pour into your life…?

You want to know the prosperity and joy of the Master? Then do what Jesus did and give yourself away for the glory of God.

Choose wisely…

“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10-11)
