God Alone

“But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth [anchored in the Word of God] for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers.” ~ Jesus

Because God is Absolute Perfection, All worship is due Him, and Him alone. For nothing that is done is accomplished outside of His will and sovereignty. Our life is His, our abilities are His, and even our faith is authored and completed by Him. So whether we accept or reject Him as Lord and Savior, on a day God has set, every knee will be driven to the ground in Jesus’ majestic presence to honor and worship Him.

In light of this, another core value we should hold is Worship. That is to place value and worth on who God is. Worship is to embrace His perfect attributes while surrendering ourselves to the loving kindness and majestic power of our Sovereign Creator. We do this through an understanding of The Truth that leads us to know He is ‘Good’, even when we don’t understand what He is doing. This surrender to the will of God is what Jesus is referring to in John 4:23 when He describes ‘true worshipers’ as those who respond to Him from the core of their being (spirit) and in truth (anchored in an understanding of the Word of God). Paul describes this as being ‘a living sacrifice who has been crucified with Christ, having by faith given control of our lives to Him who now lives within us, producing what is Holy and pleasing to God; this being true and proper worship.’ (Gal 2:20 & Rom 12:1)

Worship is not what I do, but the how and why I live my life. Singing praise to His name is a response to what He has completed and is doing in my life. Giving of my offerings is an expression of my gratitude for what He is providing. Proclaiming The Gospel is a reflection of my understanding and obedience to His Word. We box up worship into tiny boxes, thereby limiting it down to only one thing. This robs us of the fullness of God’s grace, which is sufficient in every aspect of our lives.

Worship is not just a praise group or service, but the way I live my life each moment of the day; surrendering my life to Him, so that He is glorified through me His living sacrifice, who is declared Holy and acceptable through the shed blood of Jesus who bore the curse and penalty of sin in my place. Praise the Lord, to whom all blessings flow!

Choose wisely…

God and God alone;

Your name be louder,

louder than any other song;

You are forever seated on your throne;

You are forever God and God alone;

Who else can wash our sin away,

God and God alone;

Who else can raise us from the grave,

All praise to you belongs

Jesus, all praise to you belongs,

We lift you higher and higher;

God and God alone!
