“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

Over a thousand years ago, Isaiah prophesied of the coming Messiah. And with the Messiah, we received and now have access to many promises. Here are four from one verse.
Wonderful Counselor: I have been to a lot of good counselors, but none compare to the wisdom that derives from Christ and His Word. His understanding exceeds our expectations because he knows us better than we know ourselves. ‘He knows the plans he has for us.’
Mighty God: Calms the storm, parts the seas, feeds thousands, created the universe etc…And moreover, He is able to direct the stubborn human heart towards Him (probably the hardest of all) We have access to that God, and He is for us. Mightier than any hero or villain that we could create in our mind; divine authority. ‘Greater is he that is in us, than he that’s in the world’
Everlasting Father: Or better known as the Father of eternity. He is life, and life-giving to all who believe and called according to His purpose. Not just life according to a time frame, but also the quality of life. How many of us can testify that our life has changed since accepting the Lord?
Prince of Peace: Out of the month of Jesus Christ, “I am leaving you with a gift–peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14:27 NLT) and In Philippians 4:7, “The peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Four foundational truths that are packed within one verse, that’s the power of God’s Word. Oh yeah, he also mentions that the government will be on His shoulder. Good to know this with all current activity. Rest in these promises with confidence in Him.

Daily Quote: “Where does your security lie? Is God your refuge, your hiding place, your stronghold, your shepherd, your counselor, your friend, your redeemer, your saviour, your guide? If He is, you don’t need to search any further for security.” – Elisabeth Elliot
