Every Day!

Being married for 26 years, Shirley and I have gotten to know the good, the bad, and the ugly about each other. We love each other dearly and I would give my life for her. And other times, she would like to take my life. I can be a handful.  Not being retired quite yet, Shirley will take little trips here and there without me, and I’m fine with that. Just as I may take a trip or two away from her during the course of the year. We both know where we are and who we are with, no problem there. And we also know when each of us will be back home. This has been a crazy week. I was supposed to go straight to the cabin and meet her there for 3 days of relaxation. But due to the covid that has run rampant on campus, she advised me to stay home just in case. Good thing I did as I tested positive. Now Shirley and our daughter will be home tomorrow, but I will not be here as I have to go and quarantine for a few more days until this thing blows over. I really miss my wife! It’s a comfort to lay in bed knowing that she is right next to me. That we can have coffee together in the morning or dinner when I get home from work, or just sit and watch a show on tv. It’s a comfort thing that I love.

The other thing I have grown to love over the years is that I can’t go without reading God’s word on a daily basis. This past week I have been in scripture for hours at a time without giving any thought to anything else around me. Proverbs 10:14 “The wise store up Knowledge” It’s my great pleasure to sit and read what God has to say to me. To listen and study what his words mean for my life. The bible is God’s inspired word. 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is inspired by God, and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work”. Learning his word has made me a better person, friend, co-worker, and husband. It’s a never-ending process that continues to amaze me on a daily basis. I try my best every day to tell my wife how much I love her. On the phone is nice, but everything’s better in person!!!

This Week’s Verse to Memorize:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. -1 John 4:10-11
