Don’t Get Weary

Posted on November 16, 2020 by Catey Stover in Freedom Fighters

Good morning and welcome to this new week of Freedom Fighters. I trust you had a really good weekend.

Last week I hit a bump – I felt overwhelmed and weary:

  • Covid-19
  • Social distancing
  • Wearing a mask
  • Temperature checks
  • Now having to fill out a daily health report
  • Increased number of cases nationwide
  • Talk of lockdown
  • Ugliness on social media even among my Christian friends
  • Elections
  • So many friends and loved ones since
  • Too many people dying

It was just at the point of really causing mental, emotional and spiritual fatigue.

But that morning, I read these words from THE WORD which spoke peace and comfort to my heart:

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.”[b] Since we have that same spirit of[c] faith, we also believe and therefore speak, 14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. 15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:7-17

The same morning, these verses spoke to my heart:

I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:18

Do you not know?  Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31

You weary today? Go back and read these verses and allow them to speak to your heart. They sure spoke to mine. Check them out!

Have a great week.

Think About This: “Go forth today, by the help of God’s Spirit, vowing and declaring that in life – come poverty, come wealth, in death – come pain or come what may, you are and ever must be the Lord’s. For this is written on your heart, ‘We love Him because He first loved us.” – Charles Spurgeon

This Week’s Verse to Memorize: 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. -1 John 2:15-17
