Do You See What I See?

He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.”

Matthew 13:11

It seems to me one of the biggest discouragements in the Christian walk is sharing your faith with someone who cannot see what you see. The frustration and irritation when people walk away in disbelief is sometimes a stumbling block.

Here’s a reminder, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.”

This is one of those verses that separates parables from truth. I can be immediately drawn to Kingdom principles through earthly stories, but these stories must be grounded in truth.

The Bible teaches that at salvation the Holy Spirit of God indwells in the heart of the believer and interprets the mysteries of Heaven. There are at least a couple reasons why this is important. One is to confirm your salvation and encourage you to know who you are in Christ. The other is to give testimony to an unbelieving world.

However, if we only use the wisdom from above to witness without first being confident in our salvation it becomes frustrating and futile. We can only testify to what we genuinely believe to be true. If I’m not convinced of the Love of God in me, then trying to convince someone else becomes a daunting task.

Three things I do each day,

I Look,

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”

“Do you look at things according to the outward appearance? If anyone is convinced in himself that he is Christ’s, let him again consider this in himself, that just as he is Christ’s, even so we are Christ’s.”

2nd Corinthians 10:3,4,7

I Listen

“But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.” Matthew 13:17

And I Learn,

The Bible

“Do you see what I see?”
