Hello “Temporary residents and Foreigners”. Have you considered your place in this mess we call the World? There is much to appreciate and to be thankful for especially this time of year. However, I wonder if we can “keep away” from the things of this world that can cause the anxiety and stress that hinders us?
As temporary residents and foreigners, we are also Diplomats, we represent a Kingdom that is not of this world. “Diplomatic Immunity” is the idea that although we are here, this is not our home and we should not be affected by the things of this world.
We are preparing to recognize the birth of our Savior and to embrace the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus is the example of One who had total “Diplomatic Immunity”, He came to represent His Kingdom and to offer that citizenship to us. Once we’ve accepted that gift we are no longer “of this world”, we are just passing through.
It should bring us joy to know that the problems and injustices of this world are not a hindrance but an opportunity to offer others a gift of citizenship to the Kingdom of Heaven. But first, we must live as those that believe it. So, when the troubles of this world come across your television or computer screen, instead of it troubling you, just announce, “Diplomatic Immunity”.
This concept can release you from the angsts of the unsolvable problems this world brings. Of course, we have a responsibility to make our voices heard and to promote moral and ethical policies, but we are not to be held by the chains that can accompany these hindrances. Let’s enjoy the reminder of the birth of Jesus, the One who came to set us free. Because “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed”. Amen! Merry Christ-mas
