Closing Gaps

It’s that time of year again, winter is around the corner and the cold air is planning its attacks against our heated spaces. It’s as if it combs the area looking for penetrations to make its way in. The same is true with sin…

I love this illustration of the building of the wall to keep the enemy out. It draws some comparisons to the Christian life that is essential to having victory. This account shows the frustration of the enemy, not because people are busy working for God but because, “the gaps were beginning to be closed”.

If the Church of Jesus Christ were in unison with each other there would be a testimony of the power of God. The picture of gaps can be an illustration of all the fellowships building projects on an individual basis but leaving gaps between one another, but that’s another subject. The same is true in our personal lives, we tend to build a relationship with God but have gaps with one another. It seems there is so much sensitivity that there is no room for another’s opinion or insight. There are many of us that if someone’s views are different than ours, we break fellowship and allow gaps. We as Christians are not that much different than people who follow politics.

I’m not saying we should entertain heresies of false beliefs, but when it comes to secondary issues like pre-trib, election, predestination and things similar to that we can agree to disagree. We can rest in the fact that Jesus is Lord and Savior and we confess “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” I have fellowship with believers who believe they can lose, or more likely give away their salvation, they even have verse to stand on, (I’ll wait till you get up off the floor, lol).

Maybe you can’t relate to these thoughts, but the real purpose of this post is to ask God were the gaps are in your life, how can we keep the enemy from penetrating and causing spiritual setbacks and causing us to be disqualified from the work of God? The one thing that is evident is the camaraderie of the workers, “So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.” Maybe today we can look how we can be a part of the gap closures and become a healthy part of God’s kingdom as a testimony of His grace and mercy, Amen!
