God’s been good to me! I’m Juan Mendez and I am happily married to Diera Mendez and the father of Juan Jr. and Olivia Joy Mendez.
I went through the Colony of Mercy in 2006. The Lord showed me how to totally trust and believe Him. I remember walking in the back door of the Colony and feeling overcome by a sense of peace that I would never return to that lifestyle again. At that time I knew I was being called to a deeper relationship with Him. The Lord has granted me a new life, and I have decided to serve him with all my heart, soul, strength, and mind.
My wife is involved in the Philadelphia educational system and my son loves graphic design. Olivia is only a toddler and fulfills her middle name, for she brings Joy to the family. I lead the youth group and am a deacon in our local church. I am also currently a full-time student at Lancaster Bible College and enjoy reading and watching movies in my spare time.
After graduating in 2007 I was offered a position in Food Service and currently serve as a Chaplain in the Colony of Mercy. God has brought me full circle. I am humbled and excited to share the hope of Jesus Christ with the men.
My favorite verse is Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
