A Life in Progress
A Testimony from the Colony of Mercy
Meet Jim W.
I am a grad of 3½ years ago, but my problems of drinking and gambling continued after returning
home because I didn’t take care of some issues the first time here. I thought I could get by without fully disclosing everything, but that didn’t work out too well. Since returning to America’s Keswick and the Colony of Mercy on December 2, 2014, I have had the opportunity to have Chaplain Jim Freed as my
counselor. Being the strong man of God that he is, with great discernment, he has shown me a pattern
in my life that was continually not allowing me to feel complete acceptance as a son of God. I now
know with all my mind, soul and spirit that I have been accepted as a son through the shed blood of
Jesus Christ and am free to be shaped and molded into what he would have me be.
Where before, the effects of all the time spent living in the flesh and trying to fix everything in my own strength, just will never work. I also now know that I need to stay plugged into the power source of the Holy Spirit in order to sustain a healthy spiritual life. I want to draw closer to the Lord, through the study of the Bible and personal devotion time, including fellowship with other godly believers. It’s one thing to clean out your body of trash, but quite another to replace that with the good things of God. Trusting in Him and doing good looks to me like good theology to adopt for the future, knowing that He has never failed me and never will. Praise be to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, full of love, mercy and grace, and to America’s Keswick and the Colony of Mercy, including all the chaplains, disciples and the men of the Colony that God has put in my life.
